As multidisciplinary artist Geerts plays through prosaic elements from the everyday with the major themes of our absurd existence. In a poetic, associative and satirical way, his projects question the status quo of our contemporary off- and online world, in which the raw reality is in intimate entanglement with the world of entertainment.

Since Willum is interested in almost everything, he merges his solid background in music, theatre, television, design, strategy and recalcitration into his visual art. His works appear in a mixture of installation, performance, audio and video work, graphic design, drawing, painting, language and circumstances. He creates moments of chaos, stillness, confusion and surrender, that question notions of power, resistance, transience and escapism in which the spectator often has no choice but to take an active position.

Geerts uses the power of art in order to break through current views, opinions and structures. Where success and failure are used as a strategy to tackle the sometimes unbearable lightness of the human condition. He plays, pinches, tilts and waits for it to totter or fall. After he kindly helps it back up, Willum lets it tilt the other way again without any concern.

Geerts presents his multidisciplinary work all around the world, in- and outside the regular art context. As lecturer he teaches at the Fine Arts Department at the HKU University of Arts in Utrecht and as regular guest lecturer at various other universities. In addition he is involved in various socio-political and cultural organisations.
