Yesterday, our students visited the headquarters o

Yesterday, our students visited the headquarters of the Curaçao Outdoor Industry Alliance (COIA)! They learned about the Mangrove Adoption Program (MAP), a COIA initiative focused on restoring Curaçao’s coastal ecosystems.

We were deeply moved by the information and also slightly hurt by the realization of how we’ve treated these valuable trees. Thankfully, our students can now be part of a solution by joining the mangrove adoption program and helping to replant mangroves for a healthier future. 💚

IBB wants to extend a huge congratulations to our student Axl Francisca @axle_is_king_af for winning the 2024 edition of Document Nederland junior. Axl won in the MBO category. Document Nederland is organized every year by the @rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

Axl participated with a series covering the LGBTQ+ community on Curacao.

“A festival is a celebration, whether it is an organized event or a special day. For young queer teens in Curaçao, it’s a small gay bar in the center of Willemstad. Despite the limited number of LGBTIQ+ people on the island, they celebrate life in their own space.”

Congratulations are also in order for another one of our students Janicah (Jane) Castillo @v3nus.b0y_ for also being one of the finalists in the competition. Her series was focused on the Rastafarian community on Curacao.

NEW SHOW ALERT!

Yup, we got another new one for you.
This sunday at 12:00 AST (18:00 CET) we launch the first episode of Koko Yoko by @toto.boroto.

Koko Yoko is a general hour of variety. Sometimes only music and sometimes discussions with guests. Maybe some other topics creep in along the way. Who knows?

In the mean time, tune in and groove with us coming Sunday at 12:00 AST.

The @sculpturesbluebay sculpture garden recently received two new works by IBB students!
IBB has two pedestals in the sculpture garden that are host to work to a rotating cast of students. Original work created by two IBB students gets a place for a year on the pedestals and this year Norah Boekholt (@_art_by_norah_ ) and Reshua Janga (@by.r3y) have been selected to do the honors.

Recently we've had the 'unveiling' ceremony where the students got to add their name tiles next to the work and give a toast to another inspired set of artworks in the sculpture garden.
