IBB alumni Chiou Mian Lin and Shaydiah Granviel will be part of the ‘Carol Santa Fe’ exhibition in Utrecht Central Station. 

This exhibition will feature 7 students from the HKU fine arts department and will be open from December 10th, 2020 till January 7th, 2021.

Title: Hey (2020)

My work is about ideas and images that float around in my head. This through a series of panels that stand together but could theoretically stand alone. They are a kind of mirror to a reality that is bigger than ours. Or at least I try to invoke such a feeling. It has people with some features, so that you get a sense that they are looking at you and others without, so that you could in a way see yourself in them.

I tried to make a scene that should make sense but if you look at it to long it doesn’t so that it has a dream-like fantasy element to it.  I used photos that I have taken of my friends as reference, because they pictures themselves had a certain quality to them that brought me joy and I was hoping to use that feeling I got and somehow transfer it to the painting.
