It’s now a month later. Much has changed in the past years on Curacao. The stone at bluebay isn’t on the hill anymore! (I made a facebook album with pitures from the 80s)
I’m very busy with interviews, reading books and making drawings.
The making of a book is quite a lot of work. As an artist you rarely work narratively but image by image. So you’re not making a whole book at a time; image by image you discover what story you want to tell.
I think that my graphic novel is going to be set in the past. Not about the WIC or the slave period, but about those other ships that came to the island. Oil tankers. “Nanzi” stories in the vibe of the 80s. The end of the Shell Curacao era.
