The Instituto Buena Bista(IBB) is honored to announce it’s contribution to the Amsterdam ArtPie/KunstVlaai (www.kunstvlaai.nl): an alternative exhibition that started 10 years ago as a reaction towards the commercial ArtFair of Amsterdam. Over the years the ArtPie/KunstVlaai developed into a yearly ‘state of the arts’ that stands on its own that doesn’t even takes place at the same time anymore. Nevertheless, it is always a very vivid event that presents a crosscut of the Dutch field of non-commercial spaces, the work of master students of several academies and all kinds of organizations on visual arts, which present their talents.
The initiator of ArtPie/KunstVlaai is the Sandberg Institute (master department of the Rietveld Academy) where visual artists and IBB co-founders Tirzo Martha and David Bade regularly appear as guest tutors. This year the IBB was asked, besides Ateliers ‘89 from Aruba and two institutes from Surinam, to give their representation of the local art. For IBB, Tirzo Martha and David Bade will exhibit a site-specific installation that will reflect on “the curious reality of the relation Arts-Culture-Identity-Education-Background-Roots-Prejudices…”, as the involved artists explained, “and more everyday experiences and realities of the life and grow of a platform like the IBB”.
